About the Lavender Llama Family

Hello!  We’re from Austin, TX and we’d love to tell you about our family and why we created Lavender Llama Embroidery Boutique where we specialize in personalized and embroidered products for baby, kitchen, pets, and more.

My husband and I have been married for 23 years and he has been managing the business side of things while I create.  We have 3 children who are also integral parts of our business.  Our daughters are 1 year apart in age and both attend college while our son will soon start middle school.

Our oldest daughter, Madison, was diagnosed with brain cancer at 17 years old.  She has had 2 brain surgeries each with a “theme”.  In 2016 while spending days in Dell Children’s Hospital, she found the most comfort with lavender EVERYTHING.  When asked what I could possibly give her to make her life complete (expecting she would want a trip to Italy or Greece) she answered, “I want a lavender tattoo so if I get scared I can look at it and remember to stay calm”.  While Make-A-Wish did soon after send us on a cruise to Italy and Greece, I also got a matching tattoo so when she saw mine she would know she is not fighting this fight alone.  Since that time her Lavender sprig tattoo has spread and her aunt, cousin, sister and my best friend have all gotten the same tattoo to show her she is not alone.  Her second open and awake brain surgery was at MD Anderson in Dec 2018.  At that time what started out as a Llama joke quickly became the theme for surgery #2.  My boss sent a new llama item every day for 7 days.  Friends from around the country sent Llama items to the house to make her smile.  Even recently a friend sent me a Llama purse from a local Austin Artist.  Thus, while debating names for our company Lavender Llama Embroidery Boutique was born.

Our second daughter attends an Art college in San Diego, California.  She is truly gifted and when she heard what I wanted to do she quickly created the Llama mascot holding a sprig of lavender in its mouth.  I fell in love with it.  Because little bro could never say her name, Lauren has been Lala for years.  Our female Llama is appropriately named Lala after her designer and combining LA(vender) and L(l)A(ma).  Lauren just finished final exams so she will soon create a boy Llama whom we will name Lamar after all 3 kids.  LA(uren), MA(dison) and R(idge).

Our son, Ridge, is the only one still at home to help us with the daily decisions.  He has been such a helper in keeping the house up so I can create and he enjoys helping me make decisions when I am debating between 2 choices.  He was also the one to come up with our backpack and lunchbox name tags for school aged kiddos like him!

Together our family has created this business that is fulfilling all of our creative sides.  The 5 of us would like to thank you for supporting local small business and thank you for supporting our humbly grateful family.

Sincerely,

Scot, Jennifer, Madison, Lauren and Ridge
